The Aula Maxima was a hive of anticipation and excitement on 4th February last, as students and teachers across Ireland gathered to celebrate excellence in junior certificate Business Studies.
The class of 2019 is the first to sit the new junior cycle syllabus comprising three interconnected strands: Personal Finance, Enterprise and Our Economy, which are designed to improve students’ understanding of, interest in and engagement with the business environment. In her address Ms Margaret McDonnell, President of Business Teachers Association of Ireland, emphasized the importance of the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours developed within the new curriculum, to enable students to make informed and responsible decisions, while also emphasizing the importance of such competencies for society in general. In recognition of excellence Professor Philip Nolan together with Prof Aidan Mulkeen presented schools with a framed memento and students with certificates of achievement.
