The online bookstore
The school device (laptop) and school books can be purchased in the online bookstore, which can be accessed through www.wriggle.ie/parents. On this webpage you will find an instructional video explaining how to place an order online. On the bottom of the same page, there is a link, “order online”. When you click on the link you will be asked for a code. The access code acts as a unique identifier for Old Bawn Community School. This means that only the books that will be used in Old Bawn Community School will appear in the bookstore. The code for Old Bawn Community School is 70124212. You will then be brought directly to the online bookstore.
The online bookstore will be open from May 3rd to June 30th. To avoid any additional charge, books/devices available must be bought during this period. If the bookstore needs to be reopened for a student outside of these dates, an administration fee of €50 will be incurred.
The books required for compulsory subjects will be available to purchase before June 30th. These are subjects all students must study. These subjects are English, Irish, Maths, History, Geography, Science, Religion and C.S.P.E. (Civic, Social and Political Education).
Some subjects such as Wellbeing and S.P.H.E. (Social, personal and health education) do not require a book. Unfortunately, the religion book is not yet available. It can be purchased when the bookstore reopens in October.
All items purchased from the online bookstore during the May/June opening will be delivered to your home in August. The date of delivery is yet to be confirmed.
The rest of the subjects studied are based on choices made by the student (optional subjects).
Students have chosen one of two languages (French or German) and two other subjects (from Music, Home Economics, Metalwork, Graphics, Art, Wood Technology or Business). With optional subjects, students will be able to access a free sample e-book until the October mid-term (except Art, which has no textbook). This will allow students to change their mind about options without having committed to a book. The school will facilitate such changes where possible. However, it may not always be possible due to limitations on class size. During October, the bookstore will be reopened, and the books needed for optional subjects can then be purchased. Once the October bookstore is closed, students will no longer have access to the sample books.
