Dear Parents / Guardians,

It is that time of year again when we are planning for the Old Bawn Community School Christmas Hamper Appeal. This year is extra special as we are marking 30 years of the hamper appeal here in the school.

For those of you who may be unaware, every year we run a hamper appeal and we distribute hampers, turkeys & hams and presents to families in our school community and also in the wider Tallaght community. The hamper appeal has made a massive difference to the Christmas period for so many people over the years. We could not do it alone – we rely on the generosity of students, families, staff, and our community partners such as Aryzta, Super Valu and Jones Engineering.

There are two things that we would like to draw your attention to:

  1. We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items. You can send these food items into school with your son/daughter. These can be left in the oratory or in your child’s year head office. All donations of non-perishable food items are gratefully received.
  2. On Wednesday 6th of December at 7pm we are having our annual Carol Service here in the school (please see attached notice). This year in our carol service we are marking 30 years of the hamper appeal. We will have members of our community sharing about the impact the appeal has had over the years. The carol service is always a special occasion which marks the beginning of the Christmas season here in OBCS. We would like to extend a warm invitation to all students and their families.
